MUDIGERE MINI-BREAK

"Some of the days in the November carry the whole memory of summer as a fire opal carries the colour of moon rise." -                                                         Gladys Taber

Hiya! We are at the end of the November and I am here to share my November adventures today. Life is an adventure which gives you a new experience every day. Meeting new people, visiting new places, exploring the things what exists around me. Moreover encountering the wild species is much more seductive for me.

November is an ideal time for outings as the sky remains clear blue and  days are warmer. Recently I made a visit to Mudigere, Chikkmagalur, India and the experience I perceived was an amazing one.

Mudigere is a town in chikkmagalur district of Karnataka state. It is a complete hilly area with many homestays, coffee plantations and water falls. We halted in a homestay named 'Betta da baagilu' which means 'door of the hills'.

A homestay as unique as its name with many water sports and adventurous activities, private falls, coffee and fruit plantations, camp fire, and trekking.

Mosses: sources say that there are around 44 genera of bryophytes in Chikkmagalur district. I managed to get three species whose identification I am not sure.

Ferns: Chikkmagalur is the hotspot for pteridophytes home for several varieties of ferns.

Lichens: A unique association of fungi and algae on the logs and barks of the trees decorating them like a jewels studded on it..

Ultimately the Mudigere mini break was the most memorable adventurous trip for me. The memories I carry, the specimens I have collected from there are marvelous and simply amazing. Hope even you will chase these joy of adventures in the Mudigere hills and join the nature to take a mind freshening mini break. Share your experiences of Mudigere trips on the comment box. See you next week.. till then bye...

More details on flora of Mudigere will be updated in the next article.. Keep reading what's around us for more..
