CORAL ISLAND

HAPPY PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR TO ALL MY VIEWERS. MAY THIS YEAR BRINGS YOU ALL THE HAPPINESS AND JOY.

Today I will be sharing about my experience on water adventure sports when I visited Pattaya, Thailand. Coral island or Koh Larn is about 7 km from the coast of Pattaya, Coral island. It is a perfect place if you love playing water sports. Parasailing, sea walk, water bike ride, banana boat ride are the prominent water activities. Above all the sea walk/ snorkelling is a must try activity.

Sea walk is an under water diving where the corals are densely located. Coral reef is a highly diversified ecosystem. It is a place where most of the coral species are found, along with that varieties of fish species visiting often. Most of the fish, molluscs and crustaceans visit coral reefs for the sake of food, whereas some prefers coral reefs for breeding and some for camouflaging. Butterfly cod (red lion fish) shows a tremendous camouflaging behaviour in coral reefs, the body of the fish is more like a butterfly with feathery fins and filamentous body and helps to mimic with the corals.

Corals comes under the phylum Coelenterata and class Anthozoans. They are found in shallow water where enough sunlight penetrates; corals are soft bodied animals and hence encapsulated by hard calcareous exoskeleton. It requires high temperature for precipitation of calcium and thus prefers shallow water. Corals are the most colourful creatures under water, there are various species of them namely, brain corals, gorgonia, sea pen, fungia, favia and others. Corallium rubrum is a kind of coral species from which precious red gemstone is carved. So here I am posting some pics which I took in coral island.

For sea walk, you will be provided with an Astronaut style helmet which constantly supply us oxygen under water, any body can wear this and enjoy the coral reef live. It's is safe for non swimmers too since you need not swim inside the water, all just you have to do is simply walk. Keep this is mind one should simply walk in the water, no seeing up and down but viewing sideways is allowed.

The moment you are taken into the water you must show this sign saying you are alright inside.

Fish keeps swimming all around us and we will be walking amidst of it. You will be given some loves of bread to feed those fishes.

A photo-shoot is done to make our adventure more memorable.

One can see the Brain coral, gorgonians and other colourful corals and fishes. Unfortunately I have no reef photos to share since personal photography is not allowed. Do visit Pattaya once and do not miss to visit coral island, if you are suffering from any respiratory disorders please avoid it and by saying this I will conclude the article. Have a blessed year ahead. Keep reading what's around us for more such articles.

Special thanks to KTM water sports activity team for such a lovely photos.
